Quote of the Week

I hold that the parentheses are by far the most important parts of a non-business letter.

~D.H. Lawrence

I use lots of parentheses when I write letters, and I often use ellipses (...), too.

I can't say that I write a lot of letters, but I do write emails and a number of other things and yes, parentheses and elipses are huge staples of all my writings.

Inspired by you, I started writing a letter a day but for the month of June. It felt like a big task until I reasoned it was okay to write letters to regular everyday friends - local snail mail in a sense and hand delivered by myself. It felt daunting but I made up a list of people I could write to... and even hammered out the dates to coincide appropriate birthdays.

I find.. in my letter-writing, I use a lot of parentheses too. It's only because I want to clarify and fall deeper in detail about a subject but don't want to veer away too far. Or I want to add tidbits of my thoughts.

Wonderful devices.
Anyway, thank you!
